Our Story

A note from the owner, Mike Haddon: Top Pixel Ltd was incorporated in 2016 - however I've been building websites for business owners since 2008. Before building websites, I began my IT career offering a PC Repair service along with one-to-one Computer Tuition. This was a great period as it taught me lots about helping others, working with people while providing a service, and I soon realised how much I enjoyed teaching people how to get the most out of their computers. My first website I built was for a local decorator, and I soon learnt that creating and designing websites was a lot more satisfying than repairing broken PC's.

In 2008 I incorporated my first company, RiDom Ltd; and offered the full Web Design service. Soon I started educating myself in SEO and Google AdWords, and then after becoming more aware of patterns in User Interaction I gained a deeper understanding of Web analytics and trends by learning Google Analytics. In five years we had worked with around 30 clients, helping them run their business by taking care of their website. This was a busy and exciting time for me, meeting lots of people and being involved in lots of different business activities.

In 2013 our lives went through a crazy happy spell as my wife Liv and I got married, we had our first baby and put a mortgage down on our house. Being financial stable was more important than ever so I decided to seek full time employment, and stopped taking on any new business for RiDom. I soon found a role working at Virgin Wines as a Web Developer, and in the 4 years there was promoted to Lead Front End Developer. I was incredibly grateful and fortunate to have gained recognition as employee of the year for 2016; and the reward was dinner and an evening with Richard and Holly Branson. Virgin Wines is great company to work for; there are really good people there who believe in the Virgin way of working, they work very hard but play harder I'd say!

In 2017 I decided to step down from my role at Virgin Wines and revisit the challenge to build my own business. Nonetheless, I'm very pleased to still maintain strong ties with Virgin Wines and help the team whenever they need an extra pair of hands. This year I hope to grow Top Pixel. It will be a company that other businesses can trust, manage their digital requirements, provide expert consultancy on best practices and to be seen as a digital partner.

If you are happy with what you have heard at this point, we'll start putting together wire-frame designs based on our discussions and a perception of the potential customer goals. We'll then flesh these out into bespoke designs, and once you are happy we will start building the website. You can see it taking form as we will send you links to view the progress. And when all the tweaking is complete, we'll launch the website live on the internet and give you training on how to watch your customer trends in your admin and analytics tools. And it doesn't end there, of course not; we'll keep in constant contact to see how your website is helping your business and provide constant feedback and recommendations. And from there - let's watch it grow!
